It has been estimated that there will be more than one million nurses that will be needed by 2012 as according to the U.S. Department of Labor. One of the ways created is through the accelerated nursing program which offers accelerated nursing especially to those who did not graduate in the nursing curriculum. It offers Baccalaureate and Master’s Degree programs as well. Furthermore it suggests on putting together past learning experiences for the students. Moreover, it offers an easy way for those individuals who have undergraduate degrees in other field to move into the accelerated nursing course.
It has been said that the fastest way to obtain a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) is through the Accelerated nursing programs. This is for students who have finished a Bachelor’s degree in some other field. The program can be finished within 11 to 18 months and it comprises some fundamental subjects. On the other hand the accelerated master’s degree program can be taken by the students for about 3 years in completion.
These accelerated nursing programs are offered in 43 states allover the United States. There has been 173 accelerated bachelor degree programs that were opened in the year 2006, and the 46 accelerated master’s program were offer all around the United States. In addition, last July 2006, 40 new accelerated baccalaureate programs were being created and also 17 latest accelerated master’s programs as well. All these are ways to improve the future scarcity of nurses especially in the nursing homes.
