Accelerated Nursing Program
There has been an increasing nursing home, yet deficiency of nurses. And because of the shortage of nurses especially in nursing homes and hospitals, a new program has been developed to aid this problem. This is the accelerated nursing degree program. The concept of this program is to launch nurses into a nursing school at a faster rate in comparison to the regular nursing school. The aim of this is course is to augment the number of nurses in order to aid in the nursing need especially in nursing homes. This program has started way back years ago and the currently, there has been an increasing number of schools that offers this program.
In order to be admitted in the accelerated nursing program, one must be finished with a bachelor’s degree in any subject with or without having obtained an RN prior to entering the accelerated program. A lot of registered nurses who are interested to upgrade their career without having to go back to school fulltime, have decided to enrol to an accelerated BSN degree program. While those Registered Nurses that had already gained their bachelor’s degree in another area of study but don’t want to repeat the fundamental subjects that are required in a traditional bachelor degree programs turn to the accelerated program in order to gain their BSN. The accelerated program does not require obtaining again liberal arts subjects, but it requires some science subject such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology and chemistry be completed before enrolling.
The traditional nursing course lasts for about three to four years, but the accelerated BSN program only takes approximately 12 to 18 months to be completed. But once, in the program, the student must be able to finish the required credits and the
